Performance Review Lab

Michael Dearing

In General Management, we learned the basic framework for giving performance feedback (Strengths, Opportunities, Most-Important Messages) from Andy Grove's High Output Management.

In this lab, we will practice drafting and delivering a performance review using the framework. Each participant will bring a disguised, anonymized case from real life to the lab and together we will prototype a full performance review for a colleague. To do this, we will cover:
  • Writing impactful, humane judgements based on observations
  • Using specific examples to bolster observations
  • Framing opportunities to inspire improved performance
  • Crafting most-important messages and landing them with care
This lab is limited to General Management alums.
